주캐나다대사관 영사과입니다.
최근 대사관 사칭 보이스피싱 범죄가 발생하고 있어 한인단체장 분들께서는 아래 내용을 오타와 교민 여러분들께 널리 알려 피해를 최소화 할 수 있도록 협조해주시기를 바랍니다.
○ 최근 대사관 등을 사칭하여 전화하거나 이메일을 보내는 보이스피싱 범죄가 발생하고 있어 각별한 주의가 필요합니다.
※︎예: 대사관 또는 영사관 직원을 사칭하여 한국 경찰청 또는 법무부로부터 수신인에게 전달할 사항이 있는 것처럼 속여 개인정보 등을 요구하는 행위, 한국 검사를 사칭하여 본인 여권이 도용당하여 범죄에 이용당하였다면서 개인정보를 요구하는 행위 등)
○한국 뿐 아니라 캐나다 공공기관 등에서는 전화 및 온라인으로 직접 개인정보 등을 확인하거나 요구하지 않으므로 당황하지 마시고, 이러한 요구에 절대 응하지 마시기 바랍니다.
○이런 보이스피싱이 의심되는 전화나 이메일을 받아 피해를 입으신 경우 신속히 관할 경찰서 또는 Canadian Centre for Cyber Security ( https://www.cyber.gc.ca/en/incident-management )에 신고해 주시기 바랍니다.
○아울러 주변 지인들에게 알려주셔서 추가 피해 예방에도 협조해주시기 바랍니다.

We would like to bring to your attention recent cases of scam calls and emails in which fraudsters impersonate embassies and government agencies. Please remain vigilant and exercise caution.
Examples of these scams include:
Callers pretending to be embassy or consulate staff, claiming to have an urgent message from the Korean National Police Agency or the Ministry of Justice and requesting personal information.
Scammers impersonating Korean prosecutors, falsely stating that your passport has been misused for criminal activities and demanding your personal details.
Please note that neither the Korean government nor Canadian public institutions will ever request personal information over the phone or online. If you receive such a request, do not panic and do not provide any personal details.
If you suspect that you have received a fraudulent call or email or have been affected by such a scam, please report it immediately to your local police station or the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (https://www.cyber.gc.ca/en/incident-management).
We also encourage you to share this information with your family and friends to help prevent further victims of these scams.
